What is a cocao bean?
Cocao beans are the nut that all chocolate is made from. They are naturally sugar free and taste somewhat bitter in their raw form. In this natural state, cocao beans are a super food, containing multiple nutrients and many health benefits. Cocao is the best natural food source of the following nutrients – Anitioxidants, Magnesium, Iron,Chromium, Manganese, Zinc, Copper, Vitamin C, Omega 6 Fatty Acids, Phenylethylamine (PEA), Anandamide, Trytophan, Serotonin, and Fiber. Studies at Cornell University found that cocoa powder contained up to three times the level of antioxidants as green tea, and twice the level found in red wine. Every study on chocolate points to the same conclusion: there is something in chocolate that is really good for us - the cocao bean!
